LIGHTING OF THE TEEPEES - BEACONS OF HOPE

We want to inspire all communities with the lit teepees serving as vibrant rays of hope during the winter nights. The purpose of the lighting of the teepees is to offer a symbol of hope and healing during a difficult year dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic. The message of hope is for everyone, for all nationalities, and all ages.

The lit teepees are a symbol of hope and love for the entire community, especially for those who are suffering from COVID-19, cancer, illness, depression, anxiety, or those who have lost loved ones this year.

Lodges are not only beautiful but culturally significant because the lodge is about honoring women as the heart of the family, who nurture and protect their families and communities. The lodges also serve as a beacon of awareness for the important issue of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women. We want this event to instill pride in our young people, thus preventing alcohol or drug abuse.

The Lighting of the Teepees signifies our gratitude as helpers because it is everyone's job to do their part and help family and community. Teepees are circular, and like the medicine-wheel represents the circle of life, life's stages, the balance of the seasons, all races, and the balance of emotional, mental, social, and physical well-being, and the center being spiritual.
